PRONG / CLAW SETTING COURSE

In this 8h workshop you will capture the beauty of faceted gemstones with the technique of claw setting! Used for various fine jewellery pieces including engagement rings, claw and prong settings are a must-know within the jewellery industry. You will have the opportunity to understand the mentality of how to build your settings around different facetted gemstones, cut of your choice. This can include fancy, brilliant, princess, marquise, cushion, pear and oval cut.

By starting from sheet & wire metal, you will learn how to measure how much wire will be needed according to the dimensions of your stone, solder each step to create the right fit for each stone. Finally, you will be shown how to push the metal securely over each stone and define your prongs so that it compliments your gems and keeps them forever in.
